Alexander Solo

Alexanderos is a cult DJ, producer, and exponent of Eros philosophy in its broadest sense of 'life force' as well as the erotic. Born 15 August 1969 in Omalos, Crete, Greece, his career was revived with a series of lockdown livestreams from his Kissamos home. Following relocation to London there’s been a few original releases, guest spots on Soho Radio, a mix for NTS, a few club appearances, a We Out Here set for Branwswood and afterparties for Chaka Khan and Grace Jones. Alexanderos has been a recurring feature at Basket of Light festival; in its 2023 edition he invited people into a little tent for his ‘Calathus Mysteria’: Banking on having underestimated people’s capacity for weirdness, he presented a philosophical, political and musical agenda over a dozen songs and a 40-slide powerpoint. So things can get a little unusual, but the music holds its fundamental allure. 2024 sees him refining his vision of Pan-Mediterranean unity through sound and dance. Musically, that can include Italo, deep soul, flamenco, dreamy and steamy house, Raï, Kritika, Anatolian psychedelia, Athenian electronica, Palestinian folk and sunset-time Balearic business of the kind Jose Padilla was famed for.
